Thunder and Lightning
I don't really miss Florida very much, I never really liked it there. I miss friends and family there but of all the 50 states, Florida never really ranked very high with me.
To me, it is nothing but hot, sweaty and filled with Floridians which are sort of like southern Californians but without all of the yuppy hippy stuff that makes them tollerable in small doses. I don't even like beaches all that much and when I do, I want them to have rocks. There is nothing more boring than a white sand beach I tell you.
But one thing Florida does have are amazing thunderstorms. Some of the most beautiful and bowel shaking storms I have ever experienced were there. Nothing is more beautiful than watching the lightning dance across the sky and feeling the earth rumble deep in your bones. It is a full body experience, to witness a good storm. The sound that rolls over you, the light that flashes and leaves you in a purple haze wondering if you really saw it at all, feeling the deep bass in your chest, smelling the rains clean natural wetness.
Tonight Okinawa is having perhaps the biggest storm I have seen since I have been here. The lightning and thunder have been going for hours. The sky filling with light and the rain pouring down in torrents. The thunder can even be felt which is very rare for here where storms like this blow out in an hour or so and are generally not this "close".
It is a rare treat to be lulled to sleep by a storm of such glorious proportions.
