Futenma Shrine
The other day Jason and I went to go and see the Futenma shrine that is right outside of Camp Foster. It is a Shinto shrine that is still used for worship and it was very beautiful. Its very peacefull even though it is close by a busy street. I only wish I knew Japanese so that I could read the plaques and so I knew the customs.
This is the outside of the first part of the shrine. There is a picture of the inside below.
This is the inside of Futenma shrine. I would have taken some close up shots but no one was there and I wasn't sure if we could go inside, if I should take my shoes off, or it taking pictures inside was frowned upon. So this is the best you get.
This is the second part of the shrine, its a seperate building from the first part. In the back there are beautiful Japanese gardens but there was no way to see them from the outside so I don't have any pictures. You might be able to see them from one of the inside pictures below.
This is the inside center of the buidling pictured above.

Well I had two more pictures but blogger has refused to upload any more pictures for me so this is all you get for now.

Kudos for respecting a place of worship. I know ya'll are smart and hip to culture and all that, but it's still nice when people don't slip into ignorant tourist mode. Can't wait to win the lotto and go explore temples with you:)
