Alex's Drug Habit and How Its A Good Thing
Well Alex went in on Tuesday for a cysto again because it looks like she might have another UTI. This was largely bad news because we thought we had found something that would stop them from happening. But we need to send it off to Antech and wait a few weeks to see what the culture produces to figure out what we need to do from here.
But the one good thing that did some out of this visit was that Alex went on Rimadyl. Its and anti inflammatory and analgesic so it will help with her arthritis which has been getting worse and worse as time goes on. I have noticed she has been a bit stuff as of late and so thought it was getting time.
Well she has been on it for 3 days now and has been pretty much insane ever since. Okay not insane but a lot more active. She has been running around with her toy and playing with the car a lot and just doing a lot of the things she normally doesn't do.
So perhaps we did not solve the UTI issues but at least she is in less pain now and a lot happier because of it it seems. I would say she is like a puppy again, but it has certainly taken years off her her.

It's good to hear that Alex is acting like a puppy again. But Rimadyl can have severe side effects. Be sure you know what to look for when administering the drug to your dog.

I am a vet tech, I know what to look for. Her case is complex and she gets blood work 3-4 times a year because of it. I am well aware of the pros and cons of all the meds she goes on.
