Your Update: TCCOR 1
TCCOR 1: Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are anticipated within 12 hours. No school for DoDDS students. Staff and teachers will work normal hours, unless changed by DoDDS superintendent. Fill any containers you can use for water storage. If you live in low lying quarters, make arrangements to stay with a friend. Make final check of food and other supplies.
Today was a training day at the vet but it turned into not so much of a training day. As you can see above, the typhoon is on its way and base is busy batting down the hatches for a doozey. As the only military vet clinic for all military on the island, that means we are a bit crazy.
Health certificates (paper saying your pet is fit to fly, must be 10 days old or less) are wandering into the clinic to get them done in a hurry and emergencies are coming to us first because they are all in a tizzy. We can treat emergencies but as soon as base his TCCOR 1 C then we are no longer allowed to be inside the building. So all of that is a big mess not to mention all the patients that are being reschedualed that were supposed to be in tomorrow.
But I still got home by noon and even had time to stock up on baked goods for the typhoon. Most people do canned food, but base is insane with rabbid mothers buying up all the bread and water they can fit in a cart. So instead my 'emergency food' is yummy baked things. Tastes better than canned food too.
But we are typhoon prepped now, now all we have to do is wait till they announce TCCOR 1 C so I don't have to go to work tomorrow!

You guys are lucky. Students and teachers in Japanese schools must attend unless the buses are cancelled (has only happened once in the past 4 years). Plus, once the buses start up again, school restarts and everyone must be there within 2 hours.
